Yamba Public School is located on traditional Yaegl country, situated at the mouth of the Clarence River and is a popular holiday and tourist destination. The school has a current enrolment of approximately 300 students (15% ATSI) in 12 mainstream classes and an IO/IS support class.

 

The school has a strong reputation for outstanding results in academic, sporting and cultural endeavours, with a focus on quality teaching and learning, leadership and wellbeing, community collaboration and Aboriginal and diverse cultural awareness.

 

Yamba Public Schools draws from both the township and the surrounding areas and has significant programs in curriculum as well as student wellbeing including:

  • Literacy and numeracy.
  • Student wellbeing through the integration of PBL and Peer Mediation.
  • A strong emphasis on sport and PD/H/PE.
  • Aboriginal education initiatives.

There is also a focus on individual and small group work to facilitate differentiated learning in literacy and numeracy, as well as endeavours to extend high achieving students.
