Wooglemai Environmental Education Centre is one of twenty five Environmental and Zoo Education Centres operated by the NSW Department of Education. It is a 16 ha site, located at Oakdale, adjacent to Nattai National Park and the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Participating schools are primarily drawn from the Illawarra, Southern Highlands and Metropolitan South West areas.
Programs are cross-curricular, addressing Primary and Secondary Key Learning Areas, including fieldwork and sustainability education. Residential recreational camps cater each year for 7,500 students K-12. Programs are designed to improve the social outcomes and personal development of students through outdoor activities such as kayaking, archery and high rope challenges. Wooglemai Environmental Education Centre is proud of the tailored programs on offer, catering to the specific needs of all students, including Aboriginal students, gifted and talented students, students at risk of disengagement and those with intellectual and physical disabilities.
