Wilcannia Central School is defined by strong community engagement and leadership. Located in western NSW on the banks of the Darling River, we create a positive educational environment for our 90 students of which 90% are Aboriginal. Our small school setting means we know and care for every child as an individual. We are developing innovative curricula and teaching practices in order to meet each child’s specific needs. As a Connected Communities school, we are part of a supportive network that builds strong partnerships with Aboriginal leaders, our school community, parents and external agencies to provide a holistic approach to education for our students. We have a school-wide focus on building literacy and numeracy skills in our students and in supporting teachers to enhance their teaching skills in differentiating the curriculum for all children. Wilcannia Central School uses PBL framework school-wide.

At Wilcannia Central School you will be part of a small and supportive team of staff. All our staff members are valued for their ideas and expertise. Our small, remote school setting and individualised approach to student learning means you will have a significant impact on the learning outcomes of our students.
