Werrington Public School offers excellent educational opportunities for K to 6 students living in one of the oldest suburbs of Penrith. The school has an enrolment of approximately 470 students (with 10% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander), across 18 mainstream and 5 support classes catering for students with physical, autism or intellectual disabilities and is set within attractive grounds with well-equipped classrooms. Within the school, the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework underpins the school's philosophy, ensuring staff, students and their families are safe, respectful, learners. These expectations are explicitly taught to students with a focus expectation each week. The school has a dedicated staff committed to continuous improvement in learning outcomes through quality teaching practices and programs. Werrington Public School is a Phase 2 Early Action for Success (EAfS) school with an emphasis on embedding the three-tiered model of support and ensuring the foundational skills of literacy and numeracy underpin all teaching and learning programs across all Key Learning Areas. This includes a strong focus on literacy and numeracy including the implementation of targeted programs, such as L3 (Language, Learning and Literacy), TEN (Targeted Early Numeracy) and FoR (Focus on Reading) Our learning support centre, offers specialist programs for students who are experiencing difficulty with aspects of their learning or development. Programs offered include Reading Support, MultiLit, MiniLit, Language for Learning, Language for Thinking, Language for Writing, Repeated Reading, Quicksmart Numeracy and Rock and Water.
