Whakapapa Holiday Park is set amongst beautiful mountain beech trees within the Tongariro National Park. Native whio (blue ducks) can been seen on the mountain stream alongside the campground. They are raised in captivity and released on the stream every year and now producing their own offspring. Walk the nearby tracks through native bush or over volcanic rock and tussock hills, giving spectacular views of mountains, waterfalls, mountain streams and crater lakes, all within walking distance of the holiday park
