Wagga Wagga Public School is located in a large regional centre on the land of the Wiradjuri people. It has a proud history of providing a quality education as the first primary school in Wagga Wagga. Currently, it provides education for approximately 400 Kindergarten to Year 6 students within a caring, collaborative and inclusive environment. The school embraces families from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, including approximately 7% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 16% from a non-English speaking background.
The Assistant Principal Learning and Support (APLaS) position is based at Wagga Wagga Public School and services the learning and support needs of the Wagga Wagga network of schools. The APLaS works collaboratively with Early Intervention, Schools for Specific Purposes, Primary and Secondary school sites, and in collaboration with allied and external services.
The successful candidate will support schools to provide direct and timely assistance to students with additional learning and support needs, and their teachers. Emphasis in the role of the Assistant Principal Learning and Support will reflect school and regional priorities and programs. The role will be underpinned by a collaborative and consultative approach so that the student and/or their parent or carer are actively involved in the student’s education. The Assistant principal Learning and Support also provides professional support for Learning and Support Teachers through professional learning activities, network meetings and individual advice and support, where needed.
