Vincentia High School is a large co-educational, comprehensive, community school located within 2 km of Jervis Bay on the South Coast of New South Wales with a population of 1142 students and approximately 150 staff. The school is part of the Bay and Basin Learning Community serving the educational needs of students from the 7 local primary schools.
The Bay and Basin region is 3 hours of Sydney and 4 hours from Canberra, it is one of the world's most pristine coastlines with over 100 stunning beaches within an hour of the school.
In 2019 the school began the implementation of a range of Professional Learning opportunities for staff to further enhance leadership capacity supported by the involvement of the Specialist Support Unit, Educational Change-makers and the Distributed Instructional Leadership (DIL) program.
The school provides students with a wide range of academic opportunities by providing a large array of curriculum offerings, partnerships with Wollongong University, Canberra University and The Australian National University and holds an outstanding record of excelling in the delivery of Vocational Education courses.
Approximately 14% of the student population are Indigenous and the exceptional Aboriginal Education programs include the 100 hour Dhurga Language Program, Dhawarri Dancers and the Clontarf Academy. There is a close working relationship with the AECG, school and community.
The school provides outstanding academic, cultural and sporting opportunities. Students are encouraged to embrace the opportunities in leadership roles within the SRC.
Vincentia High School hosts 11 support classes including: 4 x MC, 4 x ED, 1 x AU, 1 x IM, 1 x IO/IS. The school has a strong Learning, Support and Wellbeing focus for students, which is supported through the collaborative efforts of the year advisors, school executive and school counselling team in conjunction with external agencies, some of whom provide services onsite.
The school is proud of the diverse range of extra curricula activities available to students including Sporting events, Agricultural Show Teams, Art classes, Music ensemble, Drama Club, Science Tournaments, Mountain-biking and Triathlon teams. The school's activities are well supported by an active P & C.
