Tweed River High School is a comprehensive high school situated at Tweed Heads on the far North Coast of NSW on the traditional country of the Minjungbal people opening in 1961. The current school enrolment is approximately 700 with approximately 17% of enrolments coming from indigenous backgrounds.
Tweed River HS offers a broad curriculum from Year 7 through to Year 12 including school based VET courses. The school facilities include a Trade Skills Centre for Metals and Engineering. The school caters for the needs of individual students from extension programs through to learning support programs targeting the learning needs of students. Staff have been trained in 8 Ways and are continuing to develop their skills in curriculum differentiation.
STEM is evolving at the school with the development of a specialised Maker Space and cross faculty collaboration in STEM is occurring as an element of the current school plan.
The school has long had success in both team and individual sporting endeavours. These achievements are supported through our extra curricula Sports Development Program employing professional coaches in a range of sports to mentor and train our more able athletes.
From Years 7 â 12 the curriculum is underpinned with a comprehensive range of welfare programs to support the wellbeing needs of students. Every staff member has a role to play in monitoring student wellbeing in order for students to reach their potential.
Our links with community programs are particularly strong and our Aboriginal students are supported through our collaboration with the âBroncos for Tomorrowâ and AIME programs.
