Tumbarumba High School has a student population of approximately 190 students and is located in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. Tumbarumba is a relatively isolated rural high school that services the secondary education needs of Tumbarumba and various outlying communities, including Laurel Hill, Rosewood, Tooma and Humula. The local economy is underpinned by the timber, viticulture, agriculture and tourism industries. Fluctuations in student numbers have made it essential for the school's management team to adopt a dynamic approach to providing a broad and sustainable educational experience for all students. In the period 2015â2018 student population has increased by nearly 15%; however, the student population has demonstrated a tendency to fluctuate throughout the course of the school year. Academic achievement has shown steady improvement with more students benefiting from a high quality education at Tumbarumba High School. The school is engaged with an implementation program utilising an appreciative inquiry approach to improvement.
