Located in the northern suburbs of Wollongong, Towradgi Public School has an enrolment of 176 students comprised of 10% Aboriginal students and 32% of students from language backgrounds other than English. The school is diverse and complex with six K-6 mainstream classes, three support classes for students with specific intellectual, physical and emotional needs and an Early Intervention Unit. A committed staff sets high expectations for student achievement through formative assessment practices and authentic project based learning. Extra-curricular opportunities include debating, choir, coding, environmental initiatives and representative sports. Meaningful partnerships with family members and community groups have been established and the school community is encouraged to play an active role in the education of their children. The school is well resourced with large open grass playground areas and play equipment, flexible learning spaces and air-conditioned classrooms.
