Toormina Public School is positioned 9km south of Coffs Harbour and has an enrolment of 263 students, including 19% Aboriginal students. The school has the local opportunity class which attracts gifted and talented students from the surrounding area. Students are drawn from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. This position 0.8 (4 day a week), permanent itinerant position will be responsible for the development and implementation of language, auditory skill and speech programs to support preschool and school age students who are Deaf or hard of hearing across a range of settings. These programs will implement educational experiences which support the development of literacy and communicative competence.
The Coffs Harbour Itinerant Hearing Support Team services approximately 31 schools and 25 preschools across the Coffs Harbour and Bellinger Valley areas. The enthusiastic and dedicated ISTH staff have a strong commitment to quality educational and social outcomes for all students from diagnosis to Year 12.
The successful candidate will be required to travel between multiple schools across the area. The position is to commence 27 January 2021.
