Tamworth Public School has an enrolment of 903 students, including 12% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and 10% from a non-English speaking background. Enrolments have steadily increased in recent years, creating a strong demand for places at the school. Tamworth Public School was established in 1855 and is set on a large site that includes heritage buildings and expansive grounds and gardens. A extensive building program has just been completed with new co-teaching, collaborative learning spaces and a Communal Hall now being occupied. The school has a strong record of achievements in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits. The dedicated and caring staff has a balance of highly experienced and early career teachers. The school has a high community profile and is strongly supported by an engaged Parents and Citizens Association.
School priorities include enhanced student learning, staff and student leadership, and school programs focussing on wellbeing and visible learning.
