Sofala Public School pursues excellence by connecting and empowering each student now and into the future to learn and achieve success in an inclusive environment with a focus on quality personalised teaching and learning.
Sofala Public school is a unique small school located in the historic village of Sofala close to the banks of the picturesque Turon River and is 45km from Bathurst, New South Wales. Our school draws its enrolments from a complex local community with families who live and work in the local and Bathurst areas. Our current enrolment is 11 students with 36 % identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
Our positive school culture is based around connecting and empowering our students, staff and community as we pursue excellence.
Reflecting on our learning journey since External Validation at the end of 2019 and looking forward to building on the success and achievement from this process for our school by continuing to build staff capacity and quality education delivered at Sofala Public School for our students.
Through the development of our situational analysis, we have identified the need to continue our emphasis on embedding effective classroom practices in literacy and numeracy, enhancing our assessment processes with systematic and reliable assessment data and reflecting on the progress of every student to identify strengths and gaps in learning through the triangulation of internal and external data sources.
High expectations and collaboration have resulted in a strong school culture at Sofala PS with frameworks and supports for staff to continue individual and whole school development within our continuous school improvement journey. Quality teaching and learning based on refining collaborative classroom practice will continue to be a focus.
The school provides a hub for the community. School forums provide an opportunity to share events collaboratively in our learning journey for improvement. Professional Learning Communities see us as members of the Lithgow Public Schools Network, Bathurst Small Schools Network and the Small Schools Community of Practice.
