QATESOL’s role is to:
- Provide professional development opportunities to TESOL, ESL and EAL/D teachers
- Promote the study of teaching English to speakers of other languages qualifications
- Provide leadership on issues relevant to a culturally diverse community
- Advocate on behalf of our teachers and learners
QATESOL Activities and Initiatives:
- QATESOL provides professional development and networking opportunities for TESOL professionals including workshops, conferences and seminars
- Publishes a newsletter for QATESOL members 3 to 4 times a year
- Advocates for the needs of TESOL teachers and our learners
- Responds to local and national educational initiatives and policies on TESOL, EAL/D and ESL issues
- Works with other states through the Australian Council of TESOL Associations (ACTA)
- Distributes ACTA information and publications to QATESOL members
- Supports QATESOL members to attend professional learning opportunities
- Disseminates relevant information from local, national and international sources
- Promotes research in our field though the Anna Kohler fund and QATESOL Newsletter
