Narrabri High School is a comprehensive secondary school and is situated in the thriving rural town of Narrabri in the North West of NSW. The town is a strong and proud rural community with a broad range of community facilities. The 2019 enrolment is 527 students, with 106 students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. There is a strong connection between the school and the Goomeroi nation and an expectation that strong cultural and academic links will be supported into the future.
Narrabri High School is characterised by its inclusive culture, a focus on each student as an individual, academic success, a broad senior curriculum and a strong emphasis on well-being and support. Both sporting and cultural programs are strongly supported and are integral to the schoolâs philosophy. The school has a developing relationship with local industry groups in order to enhance Vocational education offerings and is implementing and developing a number of initiatives to support student engagement and transition to work.
Narrabri is a rich and varied agricultural area and is a central hub for research in both cotton and wheat. This is reflected in the school, with a large population of keen agricultural students. Agriculture runs from Years 7 to 12 and there is also a large interest in Primary Industry within the senior school. Narrabri High School has excellent relationships with all of the outside agencies and research centres located in the area and we are continually building positive relationships in the community. The school participates in local shows and steer and lamb competitions and have achieved outstanding results with our beef cattle and sheep.
