Murrurundi Public School is one of the oldest schools in NSW. Students and staff are committed to creating a positive and caring environment in which to teach and learn. The school provides stimulating learning programs which meet students' individual needs and offer success. The school curriculum promotes a love of learning and strongly emphasises the basic skills of literacy and numeracy. Murrurundi Public School is committed to achieving high quality learning outcomes for its 48 students, inclusive of 8 Aboriginal and 8 ESL students.  Our emphasis is based on achievement in the core subjects of literacy and numeracy.

Building strong literacy and numeracy foundations and providing opportunities for students to be confident self-regulated and engaged learners is a priority. The school recognises the importance of students' positive wellbeing and its impact on learning. Positive Behaviour for Learning is the scaffold for the school’s wellbeing initiatives.

Murrurundi Public School has a mission statement -"Pride in our Heritage and Confidence in our Future" and this is reflective in the school’s practices and focuses. We are a member of both the Invermein and Upper Hunter Learning Community where schools work together to promote a comprehensive education for all students.
