Mount Lewis Infants School is a large K-2 school, located in the Bankstown/Greenacre area, and has an enrolment of 183 students. It is held in high regard by the local community and is recognised for the positive and inclusive environment that is part of the school culture.
Mount Lewis Infants School is a proud multicultural community, with 97% of students with a language background of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D), with the largest group being Arabic. The school values all learners as individuals and all staff promote excellence in teaching through a commitment to continuous professional learning and delivering quality programs.
The school is part of the Early Action for Success program and has a full time Deputy Principal Instructional Leader who specialises in targeting literacy and numeracy success for students and provides guidance for staff in the form of using data to drive programs, as well as targeting support for students with specialist staff. The school has an Arabic community language teacher, as well as EAL/D staff and a learning and support teacher. In 2022 the school will have a full time Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction.
The school has a strong focus on numeracy and literacy. InitiaLit, play-based learning and STEM education have been recent school initiatives in the Strategic Improvement Plan.
The community is engaged through the Parents and Citizens Association, which are an integral part of school life. Mount Lewis Infants School is a safe, happy and caring environment which is nurtured by all in the school community and enhanced by community partnerships supporting student learning.
