Merrylands Public School has a current enrolment of 569 students (including 17 Aboriginal students) and serves a diverse school community with 93% of students from a language background other than English, including over 40 languages and 15% of students recognised as refugees.
The school is made up of 21 mainstream classes and 3 IM/IO support classes. Merrylands Public School supports the development of each individual child, ensuring they have opportunities to achieve academic growth and personal excellence across the curriculum. The school has a well established PBL approach to student wellbeing and a strong commitment to EAfS pedagogy through instructional leadership and tiered intervention and support. Students also access a variety of extra-curricular activities including sports, performing arts, debating and cultural activities.
Merrylands Public School is currently undergoing a large rebuild project to add additional flexible classrooms to cater for increased enrolments. The school has strong positive partnerships between students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community to promote the best possible outcomes for our students. Weekly parent meetings and English language classes have been established to support our parents. We are committed to working together in an inclusive setting to ensure our students are safe, respectful and responsible.
