Macintyre high school is a progressive secondary school of 550 students (12% identify as Aboriginal) located in Inverell. The school has an excellent reputation in the local community for the broader success of its students, the commitment of its staff, the strong leadership development initiatives available and the wide variety of interests which are catered for through the school’s diverse curriculum. The school receives equity funding to support students from Aboriginal backgrounds and from low socio-economic status communities. It is committed to inclusive, explicit and student driven pedagogies for future focused learning. A learning centre operates to provide targeted support to a wide range of students. The school has two multi-categorical (MC) classes as part of a small support unit and also has extensive educational and community service programs which foster strong and positive partnerships with the local community.
