Lockhart Central School caters to the learning needs of students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and has an enrolment of 77 students, including 21 Aboriginal students. It is located 60 km southwest of Wagga Wagga on Wiradjuri Country. Students are encouraged to achieve their personal best, underpinned by a Positive Behaviour for Learning model, through our core values of Respect Self, Respect Others, Respect Property. The school has a strong commitment to student engagement, quality teaching and maximising learning outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy. Pleasant Hills Public School is located in the Lockhart Shire and is 25 kilometres north-west of Henty situated on Wiradjuri Country. It is a small rural school with high expectations and evidence-based quality programs. There are 11 families with a total of 16 students enrolled for 2021. The school structure consists of infants and primary multi-grade classes with a teaching principal, one full time teacher, a part-time teacher, a support and learning officer and a school administration manager. The school provides education for students drawn predominantly from the semi-rural and surrounding rural areas of the Pleasant Hills village. The school plays a critical role in Pleasant Hills and supports local initiatives.
The Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction position is a leadership role dedicated to ensuring that literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills are embedded in curriculum and assessment; high quality teaching practices are enhanced; and the capabilities of middle leaders are strengthened in literacy and numeracy instruction. It shares the broader educational imperatives of the Assistant Principal position but with an explicit focus on the leadership of effective, evidence-based literacy and numeracy teaching and assessment practices for improved student learning outcomes across the curriculum.
The Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction provides high support and guidance to enhance teacher growth and development in literacy and numeracy and strengthens schoolwide instructional capabilities across the curriculum for middle and senior leaders.
