Lightning Ridge Central School is a vibrant and inclusive school with an enrolment of approximately 400 students (K-12) from more than 28 nationalities. 44% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Located on Yuwaalaraay country in a unique Opal mining town the school strives to embrace the local Aboriginal language as well as acknowledging and celebrating the wide diversity of non-indigenous cultures within the community.
The school aims to offer the best possible education in positive, safe and respectful learning environments that engage students in quality lessons, celebrating success and promoting lifelong learning. A broad range of activities from performing arts, cultural, leadership and sports, to environmental and academic pursuits support the education of the whole child.
