Lake Cathie Public School, on Birpai Country, was a new school built during 2014 ready for its first intake of 81 students in 2015. The school has achieved a very positive reputation within the local and wider community since its inception. In 2021 there are 365 enrolments. A strong collegial partnership already exists between Lake Cathie Public School and the Hastings Valley Community of Schools - HVCS.
During 2020 and 2021, a large-scale capital works program saw the design and construction of seventeen new innovative learning spaces.
Students are inclusive, understanding and supportive of each other. Creative arts, sporting and Project Based Learning programs balance the strong academic and welfare programs within the school to cater for all students' needs and interests. The school enjoys a significant reputation within the community where Spirit, Opportunity and Excellence, the school's motto, is clearly embraced. Gratitude and Character align with the school's Mindsets for Learning program which enhances the growth and learning outcomes for students.
The P&C contributes to whole school planning, provides financial support and creates opportunities for students, parents and the community to take part in social activities that build strong and meaningful relationships and positive school spirit.
A positive partnership exists with the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group – AECG – allowing the school to propose cultural activities that connect all students and the Aboriginal community in respectful and meaningful ways.
The school will continue to grow within the rapidly developing area of Lake Cathie and continually strengthen its commitment to positive community connections for its students and its families.
