Kurri Kurri Pubic School is a large regional primary school with an enrolment of 642 (420 families) which services a diverse community. The school has three support classes for students with specific additional needs. 19% of the student population identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and 3% students with a language background other than English.
Kurri Kurri Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, and our school wide expectations are Learning, Safety and Respect. Kurri Kurri Public School is a Early Action for Success school. Key programs across the school include L3, Building Numeracy Leadership, Play based learning (K-2) and Project based learning (3-6).
The school is working towards developing strong, consistent school wide wellbeing practices for students and staff. There is a strong link with the wider school community which is supported by the Community Liaison Officer. The school is part of the Kurri Kurri Local Management Group, which includes the local high school and 5 primary schools.
