Kurrambee School is a School for Specific Purposes located in Werrington, near Penrith. Our school educates 107 students from Kindergarten to Year 12, with moderate to severe intellectual disability. Our students also have a range of individual needs including physical disability, vision impairment, and complex healthcare needs. In addition to this, over fifty percent of our students also have an Autism diagnosis. Each student at our school has a Personalised Learning Plan which is developed in collaboration with families and carers, alongside NESA Curriculum requirements. Our school's motto is Little By Little. Our staff have high expectations of our students to ensure progress with learning as students move through stages. Staff at our school engage regularly in Professional Learning, ensuring that evidence based practises are used across our school.
The school and community have a shared vision of supporting students in developing independence, building character, enhancing quality of life and maximising active community membership. Our Schools vision is embedded into teaching and learning programs across the day and is demonstrated by our commitment to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), Assistive Technology (AT) and programs to support transitioning students into post school environments.
