Kalinda School, is a vibrant, dynamic school for specific purposes located in the city of Griffith on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people. The school supports students with moderate to severe intellectual disability, and / or Autism. Students may have a secondary disability which could include sensory needs, vision or hearing impairment, physical, autism and / or complex behaviours. The school comprises 5 classes which cater for up to 34 students, Years K-12 and has approximately 24% of students who have an Aboriginal background.
The school is well resourced with a purpose built facility. These facilities include; Sensory Space, Library, Kitchen Garden, student Kitchen, Heavy work space, new playground to support student regulation and a Hydrotherapy Pool.
Staff are committed to delivering high-quality education for all students and are provided with opportunities to develop and build their knowledge and skills in a broad range of areas including trauma-informed practice, technology, literacy and numeracy and community engagement. These skills are utilised to support students in an individualised and differentiated way through strong collaborative work with parents, community and stakeholders.
