Heathcote East Public School is a K-6 primary school situated in a unique position on the edge of the Royal National Park in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney with an enrolment of approximately 120 students. 7% of the school population is from a non-English speaking background and 2% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
Whole school priorities are focused on student growth and attainment in literacy and numeracy through whole school data analysis, effective teaching practices immersed in all learning opportunities and a planned whole school approach to wellbeing and engagement.
The school is staffed by dedicated and enthusiastic teachers who are committed to continual improvement in quality teaching with a focus on academic excellence and positive wellbeing. We set high expectations for student learning outcomes with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy achievement through explicit teaching and high quality, differentiated learning experiences. The creation of a positive, caring and inclusive learning environment provides the opportunity for all students to achieve success and reach their full potential.
The school implements the Positive Behaviour for Learning Program and actively incorporates the values of cooperation, achievement, respect and encouragement into all aspects of school life. Heathcote East prides itself on providing many opportunities for students to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities including choir, dance, public speaking and sport.
