Gunnedah High school is situated in the North West of the state, 78 kilometres west of Tamworth. It is a comprehensive co-educational high school which serves the town as well as the surrounding rural district. The Gunnedah and local area communities are experiencing renewal after a period of economic decline. This is due to the abundant supply of energy, raw materials and open space for manufacturing facilities. The township has wide range of shops, cafes, and childcare as well as many cultural and sporting activities. It is predicted that this will lead to increased enrolments at Gunnedah High and its partner primary schools in coming years. Gunnedah High School has a student enrolment of 440, 43% of whom identify as Aboriginal. Many of our students come from a low socio-economic backgrounds and the school attracts significant equity funding to improve the outcomes for those who attend Gunnedah High.  Gunnedah High has adopted the "Visible Learning" principles as a structure for teaching and learning.  Student participation and achievement is encouraged in the academic, cultural and sporting areas of the curriculum and recognised in both the school and local community.  The school has Special Education unit with 4 classes ( 1x IM, 2x MC and 1 Tutorial centre) Find out more on the school website.
