Griffith East Public School (GEPS) is situated in the large regional centre of Griffith in the Riverina Region of NSW and has an enrolment of 523 students, which includes 11 % of students who are Aboriginal and 21 % of students who come from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect background. The school Family Occupation and Education Index(FOEI) is 100. There is a Multi- categorical Class which support students from the local area. The school has strong relationships and connections with the P & C Association as well as the broader parent and wider community.
A wide variety of extra- curricular activities in the areas of Sport, Public Speaking, Debating, Band, Performing and Creative Arts are available to students to promote student engagement and challenge. The school also implements an Italian Community Language Program for students from Year 3 to Year 6. This program reflects the large percentage of students with an Italian background.

The Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Instruction position is a leadership role dedicated to ensuring that literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills are embedded in curriculum and assessment; high quality teaching practices are enhanced; and the capabilities of middle leaders are strengthened in literacy and numeracy instruction. It shares the broader educational imperatives of the Assistant Principal position but with an explicit focus on the leadership of effective, evidence-based literacy and numeracy teaching and assessment practices for improved student learning outcomes across the curriculum.
