Five Islands Secondary College has an enrolment of approximately 275 students, including 14 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. It is a unique public school in the Illawarra, providing a range of educational opportunities for students studying in Years 10, 11, 12 and Big Picture Stage 5 and 6. It has four Special Education classes which cater for the needs of internalising students. This position is for a Head Teacher Special Education. The role will involve overseeing four Special Education classes (2 ED/BD/MCC) for students with a confirmed disability. The Unit assists students who have anxiety and/or other mental health difficulties to re-engage with their learning. It is anticipated that students will be able to transition from the support class; either back to their home school or Five Islands Secondary College. The position also includes the supervision of the Technology and Applied Science Faculty within the college.
