Doonside Public School has a rich local history with a current population of 290 students (P-6), catering to a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities with three Multi Categorical classes in the support unit. The school has a significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of 20% and 48% of students from non-English speaking backgrounds. Preschool caters to our community and families, as well as local and non-local Aboriginal students as a Regional resource.
We offer a broad range of extra-curricular opportunities
including sporting, cultural, performing arts, environmental, public speaking
and debating. A model for acceptable social behaviour and responsibility within
the school community is supported by the PBL framework. Teaching and learning programs are designed to
meet the identified learning needs of students through differentiation,
intervention and enrichment as required, with active assessment practices
guiding future learning pathways.
As an Early Action for Success school, we are committed to tailoring learning experiences for both students and teachers that result in positive engagement for all and improved academic outcomes for students. Doonside Public School is a member of the Colebee Learning Community (CLC) of schools and actively participate in regular collaboration with partner primary and high schools.
As a school community we are committed to the principles of the Aboriginal Education Policy and are supported by the local AECG. We maintain strong collaborative practices throughout our CLC schools and with the regional Aboriginal Education Team. Doonside Public School privilege our relationships with our school and the broader community, actively building a culture of rapport and trust. We have an energetic and supportive P&C.
