Dawson Public School has a current enrolment of 332 students, including 43% of students who are identified as having English being an additional language or dialect and 18% of the population identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
As an Early Action for Success school, there is a school wide commitment to use student data to drive the development of highly personalised and responsive teaching and learning programs that demonstrate explicit teaching and lesson structures that cater for the needs of all students.

Positive Behaviour for Learning guides student wellbeing strategies creating a safe, respectful, cooperative and responsible school environment.
A high priority is given to embedding school wide performance and development structures to ensure professional learning for all teachers is personalised, ongoing and responsive to their individual needs in order to improve student outcomes.
Dawson Public School provides many opportunities for students to participate in sport, creative and performing arts and has strong links with Chifley College Mt Druitt Campus.
