Cooma Public School has a current enrolment of 249 students in 13 classes, including 3 support classes. The school is located on the Southern Tablelands, 114km south of the nation's capital, Canberra. The school is situated in the centre of town, where its staff has been providing quality education to students on the Monaro since 1863.
The school has a strong focus on using evidence-informed practices for the teaching of literacy and numeracy, while offering varied extra curricular activities. Our public speaking and debating program is a particular strength and the school prides itself on its involvement and achievements in the sporting, visual arts and performing arts fields.
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and Berry Street Education Model are key components of our school's learning and welfare culture. The school enjoys a strong partnership with the other schools and community groups on the Monaro, including the local preschools and high school. The school is supported by an active P&C.
