Built by the Snowy Mountains Authority in 1953, Cooma North Public School (P2) provides diverse and challenging educational programs to support and enrich the learning of approximately 313 students.
Our school provides a safe and nurturing environment for students through approaches like âPositive Behaviours for Learningâ where all students are explicitly taught skills and strategies to build positive relationships with peers and adults. The school has high expectations for all students and is focused on supporting every student to achieve at or beyond their expected growth in all key learning areas but particularly literacy and numeracy.
The school offers a Kâ6 curriculum which is responsive and flexible where students, teachers, and parents work collaboratively to maximise student engagement and growth. Cooma North Public School is part of the Monaro Education Learning Community of schools and benefits from significant professional and educational partnerships with other rural schools. Cooma North Public School strives to support students to be curious and creative learners and develop into critical thinkers, problem solvers, communicators, collaborators and lifelong learners who are empowered to make a positive difference in the world.
The school enjoys close connections with its community and is supported by an active P&C who contributes fundraising and other support to maximise learning and ensure a range of diverse opportunities are provided to students including upgrades to technology resources, outstanding performing arts opportunities, and programs which deepen students' understanding of environmental issues and sustainability.
