Central Mangrove Public School was established in 1957 and is situated on Darkinjung land surrounded by a large expanse of natural bush land and rural farming areas. The school is a focal point for our rural community and is a proud member of the Cooinda Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG).
The school has a student enrolment of 24 students, of which 18% are Aboriginal and 3% are students with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D). The school has two multi-age classes and has a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) of 137.
The teachers are highly dedicated in providing a quality education through a student–centred curriculum, lessons are differentiated and students are taught at point of need. There are embedded positive behaviour and student wellbeing initiatives and explicit teaching is a focus of teacher professional learning.
Central Mangrove Public School maintains a strong collaboration with surrounding schools including Kariong Mountains High School (Kariong Mountains Learning Community) and the Central Coast Small Schools Network. This allows for the support of teacher development and enhanced student connections.
An energetic and enthusiastic P&C Association works closely with the school, and families are also encouraged to participate in student learning and school activities.
