Braddock Public School has a current enrolment of 324 students, including 30% who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 9% from a language background other than English. The school has 3 support classes – an autism class, multi-categorical class and a class for students with a mild intellectual disability. Inclusivity and equity are of paramount importance at Braddock Public School and we pride ourselves on knowing all students and ensuring their individual academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs are met. A culture of ‘every student is everyone’s responsibility’ is highly valued by staff and the community. Visible learning and a culture of growth mindset are embedded across the school. Braddock Public School is an Early Action for Success school with an Instructional Leader. Equity funding employs an above establishment Deputy Principal, additional classroom teachers and School Learning Support Officers to ensure the academic and wellbeing needs of all students are met. Specialised programs in Aboriginal Education, art, music, kitchen/garden, student leadership and sport are accessed by all students, Kindergarten to Year 6. Aboriginal programs and perspectives are embedded throughout the school, led by a highly dedicated Aboriginal Education Team. Positive Behaviour for Learning, Trauma Informed Practice and a high functioning Learning and Support Team drive wellbeing practices. Staff are highly collaborative and supportive. Support class teachers work with their mainstream colleagues to ensure inclusivity and consistency of practice for both staff and students. Braddock Public School has strong relationships with external service providers to support families. Clear and consistent communication between school and home is a valued priority.
