Bonnyrigg Public School is a school of approximately 280 students K-6 and 40 preschool students with more than 90% students from a non-English speaking background. It is situated in South Western Sydney. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders represent 17% of the school population. Other cultural backgrounds include Samoan, Thai, Cambodian and Vietnamese which is the largest group. Bonnyrigg Public School is committed to ensuring that each child has the opportunity to be a successful learner. Exemplary programs in literacy and numeracy are supported by the school’s participation in the Early Action for Success strategy. The school is also resourced with a Schools as Community Centre initiative. The school has undergone significant change in recent years to improve the school’s facilities, community partnerships and curriculum delivery.
