Bonnyrigg is a Partially Selective High School (2019 enrolment
1685+) students, including 98% from a non-English speaking background,
80 International students and 32 Aboriginal students. The school has exemplary student welfare
programs and a focus on quality teaching.
Learning priorities include literacy, numeracy, Gifted and Talented,
vocational education and training programs (7 courses) and maximising student
engagement through technology. Bonnyrigg
is recognised as a high achieving school in both NAPLAN and top 20 HSC in
2016-8. Bonnyrigg is seen as a top
performer in implementing the âLearning Progressionsâ by AITSL and NSW DoE. The
school offers a wide range of academic, vocational, sporting, creative and
co-curricular experiences.
This position will involve working collaboratively with a highly effective EAL/D team in implementing the following goals:
- Accurate phasing and testing procedures that are in alignment with ESL scales and the EAL/D Learning Progressions
- Knowledge of the EAL/D School Evaluation Framework with the desire to implement projects that will have the school excelling at providing support to EAL/D students
- Embedding various highly effective EAL/D strategies into teaching and learning programs
- Willingness to implement various teaching modes to support students in developing their language skills
