Bellevue Hill Public School, population 550 students with 50% LBOTE, has twenty-four classes housed in open plan learning environments which facilitates collaboration, communication and creativity, igniting the potential of all students.
Teachers work collaboratively in teams, engaging students in inquiry-based learning K-6 and future focussed pedagogy. All staff have participated in a Cultures of Thinking professional learning over two years to develop a ‘thinking school’ for students and staff.
The school strives for academic excellence within a culturally diverse community, catering for the potential of all students with programs that are differentiated K-6, extension programs K-4 and an extension class catering for high potential students in Year 5 & 6.
There is a strong emphasis on the Creative and Performing Arts with a major musical and/or art show alternating each year. Other programs include dance, drama, music, sport, technology, spelling bees, debating and public speaking.
There is an informed and highly involved parent community with an active P&C and committees which support the school in fundraising, traffic, uniform and the environment.
The school is one of the founding and leading member of the Community of Schools in the Eastern Suburbs CoSiES, a professional learning community which regularly hosts professional learning for the other schools in the wider community.
