Located north of Wollongong CBD, Balgownie Public School is an inclusive, community oriented school. It has an enrolment of 332 students with 16% of the student population identifying as having English as an Additional Language or Dialect, and 3% who identify as Aboriginal. The school was built in 1889, and there is a strong link with the local village and local heritage. This is evident with a comprehensive local history museum being located on site. The education is diverse and rich, while focusing on the core business of teaching and learning.
