The Cora Wilding Memorial Award is about helping young people reach their goals. The Award comprises a subsidy of up to $5,000 toward the cost of a youth personal development training course or similar that will benefit the awardee as well as their local community. Awardees are also given a one-year YHA membership.
YHA New Zealand’s founding mission was to motivate and inspire young people to pursue personal development by exploring New Zealand and the outdoors. The Award aligns with that mission and was established over twenty years ago to perpetuate the memory of Cora Wilding, who founded YHA New Zealand in 1932.
With an emphasis on serving the community, applications are evaluated on three factors: how the course will help the applicant make a difference in their community, how well the application aligns with YHA New Zealand's charitable aims and objectives, and if the applicant could achieve their goal without this funding. The award is granted to maximum of two individuals in any year.
Print and share the information sheet with your students and direct them to apply at www.yha.co.nz/CoraWilding.
