Position Information

Plumpton High School is located in an urban area serving a diverse population within a low socioeconomic context. Currently 1150 students attend the school, representing over 65 different nationalities and including approximately 115 Aboriginal students. The numerous extra-curricular opportunities include the areas of performing arts, student leadership, science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and media industry studies. There is a strong culture of school-developed professional learning to facilitate our vision as expressed in our strategic plan, which is based on the premise that excellence is achieved when the school community is courageous and commits to being the best we can be, contributing to the local and global context in a meaningful way. Through a focus on personal best in all areas of school life, we use evidence-based/data informed processes, feedback, reflective practices and collaboration to create opportunities for incremental, achievable and measurable growth. 

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach Year 7-10 Science, Stage 6 Physics and Chemistry.
  2. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement curriculum to drive improved student learning outcomes.
  3. Capacity to engage students with a differentiated curriculum, to meet the individual learning needs of a diverse student body.
  4. Capacity to work collaboratively as part of the Science Faculty to drive quality, evidence-based teaching initiatives. 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
