About this job

Position Information

Mudgee High School is a school of 800 students, more than 100 of whom identify as Aboriginal. It is a rural comprehensive school catering for students from Years 7-12.

Mudgee is a town well known for its fine wines, fine food, agriculture and mining. By car, Mudgee is just 3.3 hours from Sydney’s CBD and 3.5 hours from Newcastle’s CBD. Nestled within the valley of the Cudgegong River, Mudgee is a well-serviced and beautiful part of NSW, well within reach of major centres.

The school has a well-respected history of academic achievement, and an equally well-respected history of sporting, social and cultural achievement, including a biennial musical production. The school is a leader in student wellbeing focused on recognition of achievement, restorative practices, and strong relationships with families and the broader community. The comprehensive curriculum offered at Mudgee High allows students to access to a wide range of courses for both university and non-university educational pathways, as well as employment. Stage 5 elective courses are vertically integrated, broadening further what the school can offer.

Mudgee High has a strong relationship with its supportive community, including an active Parents and Citizens’ Association that meets twice each term. Each year, Year 12 students engage in charity fundraising that involves the entire community. Local businesses and industries support our students and staff with expertise and resources. A supportive Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) works with the school to achieve DoE Aboriginal Education and Training policies, as well as school programs to enhance opportunities for Aboriginal students and encourage parental involvement.

Modern facilities, a Trade Training Centre, creative and performing arts facilities, a gymnasium, technology workshops, a wellbeing centre and a state-of-the-art library resource centre all support the development of the young people who attend Mudgee High.
