Position Information

Plumpton High School is located in an urban area serving a diverse population within a low socioeconomic context. Currently 1150 students attend the school, representing over 65 different nationalities and including approximately 115 Aboriginal students. With a focus on developing high intellectual capacity problem solving individually and collaboratively using technology where appropriate supported by 40 business partners and a strong student wellbeing framework continues to ensure university, TAFE access or employment. The numerous extra-curricular opportunities include the areas of performing arts, student leadership, science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and media industry studies. The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme is embedded in the PDHPE program and recognise that young people that have completed The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award can demonstrate initiative and skills such as teamwork and communication. In 2023 Plumpton was named as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Whole Year Model Australian Champions. Plumpton High School was selected to present at World Education Week in 2021, was a finalist in the Australian Education Awards 2020 in the categories of ‘Secondary School of the Year – Government’ and the ‘Best Co-Curriculum Program’. The school was also named as one of the most innovative in Australia in 2019-2020 with the principal also named as the Australian Principal of the Year (Government Schools) 2019 and in 2023 selected as one of the most influential educators in Australia. Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach Mathematics (Year 7-10) and Mathematics (Year 11-12)- up to Mathematics Extension 2.
  2. Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative and differentiated Mathematics teaching and learning programs and assessment practices that focus on student growth and improving student outcomes. 
  3. Proven ability to use effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices to create a classroom environment that is engaging, inclusive and fosters a culture of high expectations.
  4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, students and parents.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
