Position Information

Schools and parents are responsible for maintaining the regular attendance of students at school. The Home School Liaison Program assists schools and parents in fulfilling this responsibility.

The Home School Liaison Program is managed and coordinated by Delivery Support staff across the state.

Coonamble High School is a Connected Communities comprehensive co-educational school with an enrolment of 180 students. This includes 79% indigenous students and a Support Unit of 5 classes.

The town has a population of approximately 3000 with a vibrant sporting and community calendar providing students, families and teachers many opportunities to participate in the community. The school is situated approximately 160km north of Dubbo.

Our school vision is "Empowering students to be the best they can be to live a good life." Supported by the School Reference Group, AECG, P&C, Clontarf and NASCA Academy, the school also enjoys partnerships with key service providers to enable students to access their learning and achieve high level outcomes. Students participate in a senior compressed curriculum which offers broad subject choice. All students have personal learning plans. The school works closely with three primary partner schools to assist student transition.

Specific Selection Criteria
  • Teaching qualifications and recent school-based experience and / or experience supporting schools
  • Demonstrated experience in student welfare, including implementation of attendance policy and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with schools, students, parents and agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a range of computer applications, including databases and spread sheets
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education policies
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel between work sites. 
Conditions
  • Temporary appointment for three years. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel between worksites
  • Salary as for teachers, plus HSLO allowance. The appointee will be required to attend a training program in Sydney. Other conditions as outlined in Schedule 10 of the Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020.
  • An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes

Successful applicants may be entitled to a relocation support payment of $5,000 to $8,000 for eligible applicants.
Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
