The school is seeking an experienced Support Teacher Inclusive Education (ST:IE) for a full-time position, commencing Term 1 2025. In collaboration with parents and teachers, you will support students across the full range of abilities and needs, to meet specific learning needs. You will implement inclusive and effective teaching and learning strategies to engage and improve education outcomes of supported students.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: 
  • A strong knowledge of inclusive education practices, especially for students with disabilities
  • Have a clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum
  • Effective communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in implementing personalised learning plans (PLP) and Individual Curriculum Plans (ICPs)
  • An understanding of the NCCD processes
  • Involvement with Strategies and Practices which influence student progress and achievement
  • An ability to oversee and deliver a range of mapping and planning functions to support inclusive education practices
  • An ability to attend to innovative and creative teaching practices
  • A proven capacity to work as part of a team
  • A willingness to share knowledge and skills through professional development, consultation and advice. 

About the role - As a dynamic and innovative member of our school community, in collaboration with students, parents, teachers, leaders and allied health professionals, you will support students across the full range of abilities and needs, to meet specific learning needs. In particular you will: 
  • Design and implement inclusive and effective teaching and learning strategies to engage and improve education outcomes of supported students
  • Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
  • Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes aligned to The Alice Springs (Mparntwe) goals for young Australians
  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching. 

About you - To be successful in this role you will bring relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as:
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and digital literacy practices plus experience using the Australian Curriculum in a flexible manner to meet the needs of a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standardsfor Teachers across professional knowledge, practice and engagement.
  • Know and understand the Disability Discrimination Act and apply Disability Standards for Education
  • Demonstrated application of the NCCD model as part of a whole-school approach to supporting students with a disability
  • Proven ability to oversee and deliver a range of processes, including enrolment transitions, and mapping and planning functions to support inclusive education practices
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
  • Have a commitment to?Safeguarding

St Joseph's College Coomera is a Brisbane Catholic Education master planned co-educational College that opened in January 2019. Our first Seniors will graduate in 2024. The College is located in Coomera on the Northern Gold Coast, 40 minutes south of the Brisbane CBD.

Do I have to be Catholic?
All BCE teachers must have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education. If this role does not require you to teach Religious Education, you do not need to be Catholic.

Our teachers of Religious Education are required to be Catholic and attain Accreditation to teach Religion in a Catholic school. Not accredited to teach in a Catholic school yet? That’s okay, BCE will support you to achieve this through your professional development after you start with us.
