The Route

The Senior Program Officer will have responsibility for the following, but not limited to:

  • Oversee compliance of, and apply, high level project management methodologies to monitor and support, the development and maintenance of project documentation including business cases, schedules, issues and risk registers.
  • Provide project management advice and guidance to project staff, ensuring it is properly understood and knowledge transfer occurs to staff engaged in projects.
  • Assist and lead the development and delivery of group face-to-face training, coaching and other workforce capability building activities for departmental staff in the implementation of an infrastructure management framework.
  • Apply a project management approach to the timely development and delivery of training programs and training support material, developing, reviewing and updating applicable training and support materials.

The ideal applicant will have a track record of:

  • Proven ability to contribute to the realisation of organisational goals and objectives through effective leadership in collaboration with team members to effectively address client and stakeholder needs; ideally in an infrastructure service setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in a process of continuous improvement activities including the ability to prioritise and perform work tasks to meet deadlines, commitments and client service standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in work teams to proactively improve processes, services, structures and practices through effective development and maintenance of productive client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated high level research and analysis skills, with a proven ability to initiate, monitor and report on complex infrastructure related projects within set timeframes.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, consultation and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to represent the department and to establish and maintain mutually productive partnerships with clients, team members and other stakeholders.
  • Although not mandatory, prior experience or qualifications in project management and governance is beneficial.
