Veritas Education are working exclusively with Secondary Schools in Wigan who are actively looking for confident and driven graduates who are interested in progressing in a career in the education sector. They are looking for cover supervisors who can cover staff absences on a regular basis to provide continuity for the students. If you are looking to embark on a PGCE or the Schools Direct route to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), then this is an excellent opportunity for you to gain the relevant experience which will fully prepare you for the course. Following your course, we can support you in mock interviews and help you every step of the way to being employed to start your induction as an Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT).

The role of a Secondary Cover Supervisor is to:

  • Supervise pupils whilst they carry out work that has been pre-prepared by the class teacher
  • Manage the behaviour of pupils by following the schools behaviour policy
  • Deal with any immediate problems
  • Collect completed work after the lesson and pass to the appropriate teacher
  • Build rapport with pupils/staff

  • The successful applicants will:

  • Be qualified to degree level or have school support experience
  • Have experience of working with small or large groups of children
  • Be available at least 3 days a week
  • Be flexible and available at short notice
  • Being able to drive would be an advantage
