About the Role
- Key responsibilities of the role include working with colleagues statewide to provide training and support around the education and pedagogy needed to teach Deaf children who use Auslan. This includes working with classroom teachers, school administrators, Teacher Aide:Auslan Language Models, Teacher Aide: Educational Interpreters and teachers of the deaf in specialised programs.
- The successful candidate requires a qualification in Deaf Education and strong Auslan skills. It would also be desirable to have recent experience in the classroom, familiarity with DoE and DHHS policies, knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and some experience in leading project work. Experience working with Deaf children with additional disabilities would be desirable. Some experience with development and delivery of professional development would also be valuable.
- The DHHS Team has a statewide, borderless brief and includes a group of Deaf, HH and hearing staff who work together to ensure high level support to students across the state.
