About the Role
In recognition of the diverse needs of our school communities, we have an exciting opportunity for an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) Teacher to join our team.

EAL/D teachers are employed to ensure identified students are provided with appropriate support to develop their English language and literacy skills to enable them to fully participate in schooling and achieve equitable educational outcomes.

The aims of the EAL/D teacher role in a Catholic school are to:

  • Work within school teams to assist classroom teachers to develop and effectively implement responses to support the curriculum learning needs of all EAL/D students.
  • Gather, analyse and use the EAL/D Learning Progressions to inform their practice, and plan, create and deliver effective and meaningful English language learning activities according to this document
  • Mentor, monitor and actively engage in the English language development and academic performance of EAL/D students.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment.

About You
We are looking for someone able to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and registration to teach in NSW
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, students and parents
  • An understanding of, and/or desire to learn about the EAL/D Learning Progressions
  • A willingness to engage in Professional Learning to develop best practice in education
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a variety of delivery models and modes of instruction
  • The successful applicant will acknowledge and agree to the requirement to work within the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
  • Hold current TESOL qualifications or commitment to acquiring qualifications
