Rap, Rhythm and Rhyme in the Primary Classroom

Always wanted to try some rap but wasn't sure how?

This fun, practical workshop will explore the use of the written and spoken word to support the development of rhythmic ideas, igniting students’ confidence, collaborative abilities and engagement with their learning. The session will highlight the links between these fun and creative activities and elements and skills within the Australian Curriculum, as well as drawing on the General Capabilities and Cross Curriculum Priorities.
 

Dave Stuart is a professional contemporary musician as a vocalist, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, luthier, composer, arranger and music technologist. He has also been a classroom music teacher for over 20 years, for the last 21 years as Head of Music and latterly, Head of Arts at Woodridge State High School. He has also had a strong involvement with community music and received a Queensland Day Service Award for his contribution to music in the community in 2015.
